I’m Amsalu Kassaw, a passionate advocate, experienced leader, and proud resident of Aurora for 17 years. My journey embodies the spirit of the American dream—a story of perseverance, resilience, and commitment to giving back.
Aurora is more than a city to me; it’s a symbol of opportunity, diversity, and unity. From my early days of building a new life in America to becoming a proud citizen, this community has shaped who I am today. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to promoting civic engagement, supporting small businesses, and fostering collaboration among diverse communities.
As your Councilman At-Large, I lead with values shaped by experience, service, and faith in our community
I believe in the power of connection. Aurora is home to one of the largest immigrant populations in the country. We come from many different places, but we share one home. I want to be a voice that brings us together and represents all of us.
I also believe in protecting public safety. Right now, many in our community feel fear and uncertainty. As an elected official, one of my top priorities will be making sure our neighborhoods are safe, secure, and supported because everyone deserves to live without fear.
I’m focused on creating opportunities for the next generation. That starts with supporting small businesses, investing in economic growth, and building an Aurora where our children can dream big and succeed.
My leadership is rooted in both local progress and global perspectives. Internationally, I’ve championed cultural exchange and education. Locally, I’m focused on creating meaningful opportunities, improving infrastructure, and reducing barriers to economic growth.
This journey isn’t just about me—it’s about us. Together, we can unlock Aurora’s full potential and create a future defined by inclusivity, opportunity, and resilience.
